Before

Below is a ‘before’ image of the existing butcher at Benowa Gardens Shopping Centre.

The tenancy from the opening of the shopping centre had always been a butcher. Subsequent owners of the business would leave their mark building on the existing fitout.

The last owner of the business had done a minor facelift and added new signage before it shut down, but it was hard to disguise that it looked old and tired and in desperate need of an urgent major facelift.

Below is an ‘after’ shot once our new design had been fitted out.

We opened up the front of house making the new butcher more open and inviting. The existing shopfront was totally removed and the front of house area completely gutted to have a clean canvas to work with. It was like an archaeological site, with the floor being many centimetres thick as one floor finish was laid atop another. Jack-hammering up the floor revealed the different layers.

The new design is spacious and provides a clear view to passing foot traffic of all the produce as they walk past and of any specials on the round blackboards.

The recycled brick wall and timber throughout creates warmth and a sense of tradition reminding us of the good old days before supermarkets, when everyone got their meat from the local butcher.
